This week we took our 50 state test. We also presented our book reports. We also worked a lot on our state reports rough drafts. This week we also had a Chess Assembly. They presented the trophy and the certificates. Also this week we viewed the Science Fair. There were a lot of fun things there.

Today is Mrs. Sheffels last day. So sad we will miss her alot. We have been studying our central state cards for a test on Monday. Study up! State reports is a huge process but it is really fun.
Blogged by Jared We have been practicing our southern state cards and had a test on Tuesday. I’m sure everyone did great! This week we also filled up the compliment jar so we got to pick a reward. Kavi had an idea that we could eat lunch in the classroom while watching a movie. That was the idea that won. So we had to do a vote on which movie we wanted to watch. There were four choices and tintin won. We have started watching it today and will probably finish it on Tuesday next week.
Blogged by Jared This week has been a happy week and a sad week. Mrs. Sheffels came back on Tuesday the 15th. Everyone was very excited to have her back. The sad thing is Sam Webb in Mrs. Miller’s class moved to Dallas, Texas Thursday the 17th. We also have done some fun things this week. We won the box top competition so our class got a donut and apple juice party. That was delicious. This Friday we have had our normal test plus our colony test. We are done studying social studies and moving on to science next. Also, this Friday Mr. Nihill is going to be a human sundae! Trevor and Hailey get to put toppings on him. Don’t forget to study your states!
Blogged by, Jacob T. Guess what? The two fifth grade classes raised $270 dollars for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oregon. Way to go! I'm so impressed. Our donation will be in memory of Tina Nguyen. She was in fifth grade last year and passed away after a battle with cancer. Make-A-Wish helped her take a trip to Disney Land.
Thank you for your great reading and generosity! Blogged by, Mrs. Sheffels Dear students,
What a surprise it was for me to be out of school this week. My baby was trying to make her appearance a little early, but luckily everything is ok. I had to spend a few days in the hospital for the doctors to check everything and make sure that little Julia and I were both safe and that she was not going to be born too early. Now I am at home on something called "bed rest." That means I need to stay off my feet and rest. It does not mean I have to stay in bed the whole time. I can also sit on the couch and rest there, which is a good thing because the TV is downstairs. :) I am so sad that I'm missing this fun and crazy week! I heard Traditions Night went well and that you all did such a great job during practice. Mrs. Rice also told me that your buddies LOVED their elf letters. Did they feel cold? Were they surprised? Thank you for being so well behaved for Mrs. Berry and Ms. Reed. They came in to sub for me without any preparation or warning, so they had to do their best with what little I already had prepared! Enjoy your two weeks off for Winter Break! Rest and have fun. Ms. Reed will pass out my present for you; I hope you enjoy it. I miss you! Mrs. Sheffels This week was so fun. We practiced a song for traditions night and sign language for it. I think learning the song and sign language was hard at first but then it clicked. We also did our videotaping on Tuesday and Wednesday. While some people were taping the other kids were watching the Sound of Music in Mr.A’s room.
Blogged by Hailey B. Baking christmas cookies was a fun tradition and I will also say that I am very proud that we are going to have a tradition program next week.
Blogged by, Ghent S. If you are a gymnast and love to read, than I know a good book for you! It is called “Gold Medal Summer”. The author is Donna Freitas. I feel the book is very exciting, because gymnastics is an exciting sport. I hope if you read this book you’ll like it. I sure did. The book makes you want to keep on reading. Blogged by Hailey B. At school the colony is having some problems. William White (Kavi, the mayor) made a speech, he asked how everyone is doing on the pounds and stamps, most people were low on pounds and asked if we could get more pounds. But it just got worst, each tax now cost 2 stamps. But a miracle came, money came to us for how good me made our colonial diaries.
That’s the Blog for this week. -Gannet |
